10 Minutes to a New You

The Mane Event

By Ingrie Williams

Minutes 1-2: Lather up with a shampoo and conditioner designed for your hair type.

Minute 3: Gently squeeze out excess water and towel-dry hair by blotting – not rubbing.

Minutes 4-10: If your hair is straight or wavy and long enough to pull back, apply a styling product while hair is damp (thickening mousse for fine types; frizz-controlling lotion for waves). Using your blow dryer, dry the top layers around the front, then flip hair over to blast your roots and any remaining damp areas. With your fingers, rake hair into a bun, creating a side part. Loosen strands around the sides and front to frame your face. Secure with a covered elastic band.

If you have curls , apply a curl-defining gel or lotion to damp hair (immediately after squeezing out water is best), style and allow hair to air dry.

If you have short hair , towel- or blow dry and apply a small amount of pomade to your ends for shine and texture.
