Celebrity Hairstyles for Moms

Gwyneth's Earth-Mother Waves

By Beth Hitchcock

Who’s got it: Gwyneth Paltrow

Long layers like Paltrow’s dry quickly and can be worn in lots of different ways, from chic ponytails to half-up, half-down styles.

Who should try it: Multi-tasking moms with beyond-shoulder-length hair who love the au naturel look. Adding layers to long hair is key, says Roland: “Otherwise, it’s too heavy and pulls everything down when the whole idea is to have the hair lifted.”

Styling tip: To achieve beach-goddess waves, use a blowdryer until hair is about about 90 percent dry, then spritz with a light hairspray and wrap large sections in large Velcro rollers. Let the hair cool for 15 to 30 minutes before removing rollers. “You can take care of the kids or put your makeup on and your hair is being styled while you’re multi-tasking,” Roland says.
